Don’t worry, you didn’t miss week 7!
The room was actually completed a week early. I just didn’t have time to get the final post up.
So, if you are ready, here we go! Let me show you the elegant guest room reveal.
Let’s just say I love how it turned out! As with every makeover, I just keep looking at it.
Let me know what your favorite part is. I think you can probably tell mine.
Hint! It’s the closet doors! 😀
You may see the closet door post here.
Oh, and the light fixture!!!
I will try to link as much as possible at the end.
Okay, okay! I know! Get on with it!
Let’s start with the before photos.
It had become a dumping ground, so it is pretty bad…
This was after a bunch of junk was already taken out
You can see the closet doors before in this one
I think clearing out and cleaning was the hardest part and took the longest.
If you remember this was the plan for this room…
- Clear out the miscellaneous junk
- Deep clean top to bottom
- Paint ceiling, walls, baseboards, closet doors
- Wallpaper or paint closet
- Paint the bed frame (bought a new one)
- Makeover secondhand dresser that I previously painted black
- Replace mattress
- Replace wood blinds
- Some kind of curtains
- Replace fan with light fixture (will have table fan)
- Replace rug
- Pretty basket for guest essentials
- Maybe a mini mini fridge?
- Cozy and plush pillows and bedding
- Art for the walls
- Full length mirror
- Plush towels
Everything on the list was completed, with the exception of painting the headboard. It wasn’t worth saving. Bought a new one. See what happened to it here.
Are you ready for all of the after photos?
I’m so excited to show you!!
I will start at the door and go around the room…and then I will do some close ups…
Sweet Dolli was and is my constant shadow. I think it wore her out as much as it did me.
The Quilt Here and It’s On Sale!
And look at that light fixture! I keep going by and turning it on just to admire it’s beauty.
This one is with a different quilt.
Which one do you like the best?
This is a patio chair that I painted the legs gold and put a throw over.
Painted this dresser white and added a brushed pearl finish on top. Then added those sweet daisy knobs.
Now, we are back where we started.
How about some closeups of a few details?
Closet door detail
Full length door mirror and a tassel on the door knob.
The dresser my friend gave me that is the exact same style as the one that was already in this room. It is just smaller. I didn’t even realize it until I was putting new knobs on them.
A luggage rack wasn’t on the original list. I think it is a nice addition.
I hung some extra blankets and throws in this closet too.
Dolli again. She loves this rug!
I put one of those cute tassels on the dresser too.
A fan just in case…
How adorable is this pink fridge?
I bought this little towel and snack stand years ago with this exact thing in mind! So happy it looks exactly like I thought it would.
Fluffy new towels and washcloths! Some black washcloths for makeup removal.
My new favorite vacuum! I need to do a whole post on it later.
Step out of bed on a fluffy white rug.
The closet had a bare light bulb. I found this pretty light cover that just slips on the bulb.
Then added a pretty pull.
One last one…
Me… Happy it is done!!
Let me know your favorite part.
I did get new pillows. Some that are soft and feather like and some that are foam and a bit firmer. Thanks to a comment from a sweet reader.
Are there any guest room must haves I forgot?

It looks like the pink diamond tufted bed is no longer available. I linked another pink tufted headboard for the same look.
And this is the chair – I painted the legs gold on mine and my store sold the chairs and table separately. Isn’t this the cutest set though?
And I Finally Found the Floral Quilt Link

What a pretty room! That lovely light fixture really adds to the elegant feel of the room. Such pretty quilts too…I think I like the first one a little better. Love the rug too! Gorgeous! Congrats on completing the One Room Challenge. I’ve participated in a couple and I know how time consuming they can be. Great job!
