What is the One Room Challenge?
Well, let me tell you!
The goal is to take one room and make it over in 6 weeks.
There are Featured Designers and Guest Designers.
I am joining as a Guest Designer.
Check this out if you want full details.
You will find oodles of inspiration for any room you can imagine.
I love to join these challenges because it kind of forces me to complete the room makeover in 6 weeks.
Mainly I join just to have fun!
I joined last Fall but had to drop out. I was not feeling very well and didn’t want to force myself to finish when I knew I needed rest more than anything.
Remember, It’s for fun!
So…. This will be Take Two for our master bedroom!
I was inspired to join again after I updated our old ugly ceiling fan. It turned out even better than I imagined!
You can go here to see more of its makeover.
It used to look like this…
In the original plan I was going to replace this fan because I couldn’t find one I liked.
Glad I didn’t do that!
It looks so elegant now!
Let’s Get To The Plan For This Elegant Master Bedroom Makeover…..
- Deep Clean – always my first step
- Paint Walls, Ceiling, and Trim
- New Bed – New Bed Needs New Mattress
- New Elegant Lamps
- Plush Cozy Bedding
- Plush Cozy Pillows
- Cozy Throw – do you see a theme here?
- Plush Rug
- Curtains
- Art Work
- Bed Tray
- Candles
- Flowers
- Then Stand back and admire! – My favorite step!
Here is a glimpse of what it looked like when we moved in 2002
This next one is how it was for years. That was my “beige” stage of decor!
I updated the comforter and rug in this next one which brightened it up a little.
I loved this bed for years, but am ready for something fresh.

I can’t wait to see this space come together! You have great ideas, and that ceiling fan makeover is beautiful! Also, I just love the ornate details of your old bed! I would love to find a headboard similar to that to paint for our guest room.
Linda says
Thank you so much Joy! My original plan was to paint the bed. The headboard and one rail is painted. Then I came across a new bed that I fell in love with.

Wow – what a great idea for the ceiling fan! So exciting that you are doing the challenge. I’ve done it twice in the past and even though it’s stressful, you will feel so accomplished when you are finished! Good luck and I can’t wait to see the final reveal in a few weeks!
