I’ve been trying to get better about getting everything I need before starting a project.
Usually I start and then wear myself out going back and forth a hundred times getting things.
Here are the things I gathered to start with so I could paint the ceiling, walls, trim and furniture fast.
Didn’t end up using everything though.
That edger thingie was great! I was too tired to mess with the power painter. It looked like it would take too long to put together and I just wanted to get on with it.
My cute helper is always ready to supervise.
I really hate the prep work before the painting, but this little spackling thing is so handy!
First, I filled all of the nail holes.
Why are there so many holes?
Second, let it dry
Then lightly sand. The sanding piece is attached! How great is that!
Now to tape..
Do you tape when you paint or do you just go for it?
I hate taping so much that this is the only spot I taped.
Just need to paint carefully next to the floor.
I did, but still had some cleanup to do.
Oh, I almost forgot!
Be sure to caulk any gaps at ceiling and baseboards.
There were only two small spots that needed caulk and I didn’t take any pictures.
Next it was time to get the rest of the furniture out…
There was no way to get the dresser through the door. Not sure how the delivery people got it in.
Oh well…. I just want to paint, so we moved it towards the middle of the room. I’ll worry about getting the dresser out later.
Painted everything the same color. Ceiling, walls, and trim.
That is the only way I will ever paint a room again!
It was so fast even doing two coats on the walls.
Just did one coat on the ceiling.
Pretty sure I’m going to paint the whole house this color.
It is Behr Premium Plus Paint and Primer in One in Vibrant White.
Not sponsored. Just love the paint.
Next up were the night stands.
Do you like painted wood furniture?
I know a lot of people are against painting wood furniture, but I love it!
My idea is do what YOU love and give the furniture new life and enjoy it.
How to spray paint furniture fast?
Here is how I painted these bedroom side tables fast…
IF I can get a piece of furniture outside, I spray paint it.
I always do the same routine…
It’s just what works for me.
Professionals don’t look. 😳
- Clean the piece off – I use straight alcohol
- Let it dry thoroughly
- Remove the hardware
- Paint the hardware gold – I’m on a gold kick lately
- Be sure to shake the paint can every few minutes
- Make sure nozzle stays clear
- Then spray light coats of paint until covered
- Stand back and say to yourself “WOW! This is so much better!”
Do you like the distressed furniture look?
Not me. I know I’m probably in the minority here.
But, no distressing for me!
I also don’t understand the pillow chop…
What is that all about? Where and why did that start?
I would give you a sneak peak of the night stands, but they turned out so good, they need to be a surprise on reveal day.

Lots of great information in this post. I hate sanding. Don’t mind any of the other prep work, just sanding. I also hate, hate, hate painting ceilings. Lovely job.
Linda says
Yes. The ceiling was pretty rough.
