Guest room makeover week 5 with the One Room Challenge – Wallpapered Sliding Closet Door Edition.
You won’t believe how great the closet doors turned out!
If you remember, these were the choices…
- leave painted white – – kind of blah
- wallpaper with a textured wallpaper – – very pretty, but will it hold up
- trim out with some fancy trim and paint white – – no problem with that
- order new doors that I keep thinking about – – high price
These are the doors I was thinking about. Aren’t they gorgeous!
Maybe for the next room makeover. Just didn’t want to spend that much this time around.
You will see why when you see what light fixture I settled on 😉

I just keep staring at the closet doors!
Can you believe how good wallpapered sliding closet doors look?
It is a little hard to get a good photo, but they look fabulous in person!
Check out this closeup of the edges!
I just love them!

The purse is unrelated. It is just SO cute!
Not sure how they would hold up if they were used daily, but for a guest room they will be perfect.
Here is another closeup… My friend gave me that dresser. It was oak with silver handles and the exact style of the one I already had.
Of course I painted it white and used some of the same daisy pulls from the other dresser and painted the wood handles from the other dresser gold and used them on this one. Great for extra storage in the closet.
Now, let me show you a quick run down of how I wallpapered these sliding closet doors.
I had painted them white, but really didn’t like them.
Kind of blah…
While looking at some wallpaper to line the dresser drawers I spotted this wallpaper and I had an idea…
I quickly ordered it and some wallpaper paste and got to work.
Just look at that raised design!
I had measured and calculated that one roll would be enough to cover both doors, but I unrolled it and lined up the designs just to make sure. Thankfully there was enough with a little to spare.
Ready for the first cut
Rolled on some wallpaper paste and put the first sheet on.
Are you kidding me?!
Is it too short?!
Nope! Just right!
And, no I didn’t make my bed
Second sheet down and am loving it so much!
I sprayed the old door handles gold
Look at the beautiful after!
There was even enough paper to wrap around all of the edges
Close up of the handle and the gorgeous wallpaper texture
The seam was showing right after I put it down, but magically blended in after it was dry.
I especially love a before and after.
So, here you go…

The Miracle of Paint and Wallpaper!
I’m hanging all of the extra blankets, comforters, and throws in this closet.
Also, put a sweet luggage rack in there
