Yesterday and today were all about cleaning and getting some of the furniture out of the master bedroom.
Step One – Gather some cleaning supplies.
I always like to grab the cleaning supplies I think I will need and put them in a basket so they will be easy to carry.
Step Two – Get The Armoire Out
The new box spring and mattress are already here
My great idea was to take the TV armoire out and put it in the closet in the main bathroom.
It is NEVER as easy as I envision.
I measured and remeasured to make sure it would fit through all of the doors and that it would fit in the closet.
So, I started pushing it.
And it was sliding pretty well too.
I was thinking to myself “this is going to be so easy”
And then…
One of the legs broke off and it started to lean.
Darn It!!!!
I went and got my son so he could help me push it down the hall.
Going great again…
HUGE SIGH!!!
The crown moulding on top wouldn’t allow it to fit into the closet!!
Starting to sweat!
At one point my son’s head was stuck in the closet and we started laughing.
I won’t bore you with everything we tried. Nothing worked!
So we pushed it out of the bathroom to put it in one of the future guest rooms.
Where I should have put it to begin with!
AND….. THE OTHER FRONT LEG BROKE OFF!!
Now I’m thinking “I won’t even be able to sell this thing”!
I know my son is just glad to get back to enjoying his day off.
Step Three – Take The Bed Apart
I had started priming the bed last year when I was going to do a master bedroom refresh for the ORC.
So, it’s been like this for a year!
The mattress was heavy but I was able to slide it down the hall inch by inch and let it slide down the steps into the garage.
Feeling accomplished now.
The box springs were very light so no problem getting those out.
Whoops! I did scratch the floor a little.
Then just had to remove a few screws and the rest came apart and was easily shoved down the stairs into the garage.
No more parking in there until I can sell or give those things away.
Now that those two pieces are out I can see how gross it is where they were.
Step Four – Clean The Ceiling and Walls
There were so many dust bunnies everywhere.
I never really dust the walls. I guess I need to start.
Step Five – Clean The Hardwood Floor
The dust was so thick where the furniture had been.
The Roomba goes under there, but I guess it just wasn’t getting it.
I used a spray wet mop first.
Then, I remembered a machine I have that is a vacuum and wet mop combination.
Love that thing! (I will link it at the end)
Step Six – Wipe the Windowsills and Windows
The windowsills were easy enough.
The windows were ok inside. They need to be cleaned outside.
That will have to wait.
I’m tired!
Step Seven – Call It a Day and Sleep
Pulled a mattress from other room to sleep on tonight.
Dolli is ready to rest.
Now this is what I call a master bedroom refresh!
Bahahahaha!
It always looks worse before it gets better. Right?
Next week we paint.
Love the miracle of paint.

Oh my! That is a huge undertaking! Things are never as easy as we hope, are they! It is going to be beautiful, though!

First steps toward your One Room Challenge! So exciting!!
Linda says
We are half way there. I’m tired and worried it might not all come together. I’m always glad at the end that I signed up though. Otherwise I would not complete as much as I do.

I always think this is the worst part of a project but it also makes you feel so good when it’s all clean!! Can’t wait to see your project!

I would be exhausted after all that hard work. I really do need to do the same thing though but as usual the master bedroom is the last place we tackle. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Linda says
Getting nervous that I will finish on time.
