Oh man! It is the second week of the One Room Challenge already! The only thing accomplished here is the deep clean. A month or so ago I found a bathroom cleaner at Home Depot that actually works! I was surprised to say the least. The maker of this cleaner and Home Depot do not know me. I wish they did! Ā I just really like how good this is. It only works on the tub and tile not on the shower doors.
One full day was spent cleaning! Well, one full day that included scrolling Instagram and Pinterest and watching scary Halloween movies.
I mopped the ceiling with a bleach solution to get rid of the mildew. One quick mop and it was clean. No problem. Be sure to keep the window open and a fan going so you donāt breath in the fumes and pass out. šĀ I sprayed the tub, tile and shower doors before I started to let it sit while I did the ceiling. The window was also pretty bad. Thankfully, good old Windex did well for that. I did finish with straight alcohol over the glass and plastic frame.
I wiped the tub and walls down and the Ā Zep Power Foam cleaner did an excellent job. The glass on the shower door did not come clean, so of course, I Googled āhard water and soap scum removal remediesā. One said to use glass cook top cleaner, which I have, so I tried that. I was so excited to think it could be that easy! It didn’t work! It is great on the stove top though. TheĀ baking soda and white vinegar paste also seemed like a good idea. Ā It said to wipe it on and leave for 15 to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I was wiping and rinsing and it looked so good! I was like, oh my goodness, it actually worked! It did not work! The soap scum was definitely gone but the hard water stains were still there. Back to Google. Ordered a product guaranteed to work. šĀ It should be here Friday. Thank you Amazon Prime! I will come back and update you when I try it.
I also filled the tub with water and removed the old caulk using this caulk kit.
I remember reading this tip somewhere. It is important to fill the tub with water so the caulk area is as large as possible. That way the new caulk won’t pull away with the weight of the full tub. I cleaned the old caulked area with alcohol and let it dry before applying the fresh caulk. No photo of that lovely process though.
Signing up for this One Room Challenge was a great idea. I sure would not have deep cleaned this week, because I definitely did not feel like it! Bath bomb bath tonight though. Ā š
I still need to choose the paint color for the walls and I think Iām going to paint the ceiling, the crown moulding, and the wall all the same color. The cabinets will be the same color as the kitchen cabinets. This weekend is dedicated to painting. What color will it be?
Be sure to set aside some time to check in with all of the Ā Featured Designers and other Guest Designers.Ā So much beauty happening!

Picking paint colors isn’t the easiest step of the ORC but this year I went with the same color on my wall as my woodwork and love the effect. Anxious to see yours! Good luck!
